The Peace Corps gives you a monthly stipend that allows you to work alongside the people of your community. While this is plenty to live on in a developing country, it is not enough to save for your return.

Do you get paid to be in Peace Corps?

Do I get paid as a volunteer? You will receive a monthly in-country living allowance that you will use to pay for expenses as a volunteer. You will also be accruing a monthly readjustment allowance which you will receive as a lump sum when you have completed your service.

How much do you get after Peace Corps?

After completion of 27 months of service, the Peace Corps provides over $8,000 (pre-tax) to help with the transition to life back home. This money is for returned Volunteers to use as they wish.
